t’s early evening, just the gentle flittering of a trapped butterfly against the window and dappled sunlight dancing across the walls as I package up my wares for the weekend. The calm evaporates as three children come charging down the garden into the dining room, two of them are mine, the other a random neighbour whose squeezed through a gap in the hedge. They are wide eyed and excitedly demanding some of my toasted marshmallows.

They collapse in a heap of disappointment when they realise I don’t have a toasting fork and a bonfire. The aroma that has drawn them inside is the barely visible wisp of smoke rising from a stick of posh Japanese incense.

Available this weekend at Primary Studios Nottingham.

Other varieties available in the Small Castle shop, along with White Sage Incense and brass holders.
