PRIMARY MARKET

There’s going to be a Makers Market at Primary studios in Nottingham this weekend where I’ll be bringing along a box of articles to sell, so it was fortunate 5kgs of raw beeswax turned up unannounced.

The heatwave has took a short break so it made standing over a cauldron of molten beeswax bearable in a way it just wasn’t possible a few days previous.

Dipping the heavy cotton wick into that seemingly bottomless pool of amber liquid took on a complex fluctuating rhythm, as the gently changing ambient air temperature and viscosity of the wax dictated the pace, until the callipers finally said stop. Hung up to cure overnight, by morning they looked beautiful and are now ready to be wrapped in pairs.
