Small Castle articles are designed in England by Rachel Lovatt.

Following decades working in photographic and design studios, a degree in Product Design, then whilst raising a family Rachel began to build a range of wares. These all possess the common spirit of pure form, functionality and longevity, rather than merely being a series of transient styling exercises.

Every product in the shop is assembled in small batches several times a year, using only sustainable raw materials wherever possible. English Vegetable tanned bridle leather, British Millerain Dry Waxed Cotton, Temple-Moyle Mills Silkwax Cotton, hand cast brass buckles and raw beeswax. Leather goods and bags are designed with paper & pencil,  hand cut, then either sewn together using hand cranked machines for an authentic stitch quality. Candles are hand poured in batches, whenever our favourite beekeeper makes a fresh consignment of wax available. Once ordered, your goods are carefully wrapped before being shipped to you directly from the workshop. We use entirely recyclable packaging of paper and cardboard, stuck together with paper gum tape.

Our leather and waxed cotton ages naturally, colours will evolve and patina will develop with use, these are characteristics of Small Castle goods. Use them often, give them some love and they will grow old as disgracefully as you.

If you would like to send a message to the workshop, please use the contact form here for the swiftest response.
