BEESWAX BIRTHDAY CANDLES

Spontaneous coughing and hand wafting punctuated the third line of happy birthday, as acrid black smoke rose from from the dripping glittery candles that were rapidly melting themselves into the sugary cake icing, amalgamating into a new compound of unimaginable toxicity.

At that point I decided the children needed a lesson in how to make a more sustainable, and altogether healthier birthday candle. 

Even junior mitts can get the tissue thin sheets of pure beeswax to wrap around the cotton wick, forming a pleasing Swiss roll of sweet smelling, food safe flammability.
